Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, Director of the Rice Science Center, together with Dr. Siriphat Ruengphayak of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, met with Mr. Chutyawet Sinthuphan and Mr. Nop Thammavanich, founders of RICE HUB, and the RICE HUB team.

The discussion focused on 3 main strategies to drive the Thai rice industry:
Science-led marketing: preparing to use advanced technology such as an electronic nose (E-nose) to analyze aroma volatiles, to create a Flavor Wheel standard and a Sensory Lexicon for communicating the identity of Thai rice to chefs and buyers worldwide.

Building 60 innovative brands: setting up a mechanism to transfer knowledge on functional rice and advanced processing technology to entrepreneurs in an Accelerator program, to help research cross the "valley of death" to real commercialization.

Creating a terroir identity system: linking scientific indices with growing environments to grade Thai rice and build scientific-based storytelling, increasing confidence among investors and the high-end market, with the goal of developing a “Thai Rice Flavor Innovation Hub” to turn Thailand from a major rice producer into an owner of knowledge and a leader in taste (Global Palate) on the world stage, sustainably.
