Mrs. Duangporn Rodphaya, Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, said that the Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Foreign Trade, has the mission of promoting Thai rice trade and of raising and adding value to Thai agricultural products for sustainable development. The process begins with developing farmers into smart farmers who can become rice trade entrepreneurs in the future, alongside developing production that emphasizes quantity control by growing good, high-value rice that matches market demand, called Demand Driven, as well as using innovation to process rice into higher value-added products, by researching each rice variety and processing it into food products and consumer goods, to add value to Thai rice and raise the incomes of Thai farmers.
